When Syria’s dictatorship fell in early December, celebrations broke out world wide – together with just about 6,000 miles away, in Toledo, Ohio. That is the place Mohammed al-Refai, a refugee from Syria, lives now. NPR has adopted his tale for just about a decade.In 2015, tens of millions of Syrians fled the civil warfare of their nation. al-Refai were given a visa to come back to the U.S. His oldsters and siblings, who fled to Jordan, didn’t.
