Sai Srinivas is the CEO and co-founder of Mobile Premier League (MPL), which is claimed to be Asia’s largest esports and skill gaming platform. In an interview with Times of India, Srinivas discussed MPL’s plans, new gaming rules, and more. He revealed that in the past year, MPL saw remarkable growth, with net revenue soaring by an impressive 80% versus fiscal year 2022, with profitability achieved in December 2022 and continued success in the subsequent months. The company has achieved a strong presence in Asia, North America, and Europe, with an impressive user base of over 200 million, and aims to customise its offerings to cater to the specific interests and demands of players from different regions and cultures. Additionally, MPL recently forayed into Web3 gaming and is confident in its ability to establish a presence in other geographies, thanks to its strategic moves and robust gaming platform. Srinivas also noted that gaming and esports in India have seen a steady shift to the mainstream, with the widespread availability of affordable smartphones and fast-speed internet access allowing millions of Indian gamers beyond just the metros to engage in online gaming. Furthermore, the recently introduced gaming rules align with the vision of India’s Prime Minister to establish the country as a prominent player in the global gaming landscape and will create a level playing field for both established and aspiring developers.
