The NBA has put a hold on releasing the results of its investigation regarding Ja Morant, a guard for the Memphis Grizzlies who was seen wielding a gun in public for the second time in two months in May. Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, refused to confirm whether Morant would be fit to play for the Grizzlies next season. The league has suspended players in the past for similar offenses, such as Gilbert Arenas, the three-time All-Star, who was banned for 50 games for bringing firearms into the Washington Wizards’ locker-room. Although Morant has been suspended for eight games in March, he was caught flashing a gun yet again last month. Despite the lack of announcement on the investigation’s results, Silver described Morant, who has checked into a counseling facility in Florida after the March incident, as a “fine young man” who has “clearly made some mistakes.”
