Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, denied any knowledge of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein in a recent deposition. Dimon claimed he never met Epstein, never communicated with him, and had no recollection of being briefed on Epstein by his top executives. While he wished the bank had known about Epstein’s illicit activities, including his conviction in Florida on a charge of soliciting prostitution from a teenager, Dimon said he did not recall reading any reports about it. JPMorgan’s nearly 15-year business relationship with Epstein has resulted in two lawsuits against the bank, alleging that its executives either knew about Epstein’s sexual abuse of teenage girls or turned a blind eye to it. During the deposition, Dimon repeatedly denied being involved in any decision about Epstein’s account or discussing it with other top bankers at the bank.
