The images, which show Mr. Trump embracing Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, were interspersed with real photographs in a campaign video. The DeSantis campaign did not respond to a request for comment. Experts have expressed concern about the use of deepfakes in politics as they can erode public trust in images and videos. While some politicians may use deepfakes as a defence to genuine videos or photos, experts recommend that campaign materials are systematically checked for signs of deepfakes.
