Jay Leno filed for conservatorship of his wife, Mavis Leno, on Friday after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The detection is considered crucial for her safety, according to TMZ. The timing of Mavis’s diagnosis, at the age of 77, is currently unknown. A conservatorship hearing has been scheduled for April 9. Jay’s attorney has not responded to Page Six’s request for comment. The former “Tonight Show” host, 73, first met Mavis in the 1970s at a popular Comedy Store club in Los Angeles. They were formally introduced by mutual friends the following week, and the couple eventually married in 1980. In a 1987 interview, Mavis expressed a change in her attitude towards marriage, and the couple has been together since. Despite not having children, Mavis takes full credit for this decision, and she has supported Jay through various challenges, including his recovery from severe burns.
