Palworld dev's upcoming Metroidvania switches developer credit as it drops a new demo

The developer of Palworld, Pocketpair, has released a new demo for its upcoming game, Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse, which is a Metroidvania game with a four-player multiplayer option. Unlike Palworld, Pocketpair is listed as the publisher of Never Grave instead of the developer. The development credit for Never Grave has been switched to a new studio called Frontside 180, which appears to have less authority than Pocketpair. This change was confirmed by the Wayback Machine, which showed that Pocketpair was previously listed as the producer of Never Grave.

The new game, Never Grave, is described as a combination of “Metroidvania x Roguelite” where players travel with the help of a cursed hat, using magic or teaming up with enemies to progress. The game also involves collecting loot, building new areas in a village, and strengthening oneself for future battles. Meanwhile, the developer Pocketpair has been in the spotlight for allegedly copying elements from other popular Metroidvania games in its previous game, Palworld.

In other news, The Pokémon Company has announced that it is investigating whether Pocketpair’s Palworld has violated its copyright. This comes after Palworld achieved significant success on Steam, with sales numbers exceeding two million and making it the second game on Steam to reach this milestone after PUBG.
