# The best base locations in Palworld
Finding the best place in Palworld can feel like a daunting task. Pocketpair drops you into a large open world and says “go, pal” without any real indication of where it might be most useful. Although you can create any site in Palworld, the right ones will give you access to valuable resources and make your creative process more efficient. For our money, this is the best place in Palworld for everything you need. ## Windswept Plateau
I didn’t know what I was doing when I started Palworld and accidentally jumped my starting base on the line near the first fast travel point. After all, this is a great place for one. You’re close to a few rocks and trees – all of which will come back in a day or two – and there’s plenty of room to experiment with building buildings and tools. It is easily secured. Rocks guard your south side, and cliffs border you on the north and west. The only option your enemies have is to climb the stairs to your east, and there’s a long open space between them and the ruins where your base is – perfect for setting traps and sending Pals into battle.
## Hilldside
The downside is that you don’t have access to dungeons, Alpha Pals, or ore nodes. This is the starting point.
## Twilight Dunes
The Twilight Dunes area has a lot of resources, although it’s very small, and lacks fast-moving areas, making it worth building a base. Coal is the main attraction here, as there is very little to mine. However, you are also between the Dumud and Digitoise sites, two of the best – and easiest – ways to get high quality Pal oil. You’re going to need a lot of silly stuff to make a gun kit, so if it’s on your to-do list, this is a solid place for your next base. You can also find two sulfur spikes outside the western entrance to the desert, so if you have Pal’s flying mount, you can jump there for a few seconds each day and save.
## Seabreeze Archipelago
It may seem like rock is the main draw of this startup, but it’s true. The Seabreeze Archipelago is worth considering for a few reasons. One of the highest concentrations here, both of which are good sources of sulfur and powerful Pals. You can also challenge a few Alpha Pals, and there is also a wandering merchant. The place we chose has a few rocks and stones, and a lot of trees, and there is also a beautiful fruit tree at the end of the island.
## Chillet Alpha Pal
This might seem like a no-brainer, but bear with me. Chillet is the first Alpha Pal – the big Pals with names in big letters – you can catch him easily. It is an ice type 11 and, like the other Alpha Pals, it drops Ancient Levels of Evolution when you capture or defeat it. They respawn about an hour later in the real world, so this is a great source of Ancient Civilization Zones outside of your camp.
