Google Introduces Quick Share on Pixel and Non-Samsung Devices

Following the CES announcement earlier this month, Google has launched Quick Share on Pixel and other non-Samsung devices. This is a rebranding effort by Google to incorporate Samsung’s branding while offering an Android-style functionality with a redesigned user interface. The blue double helix icon of Nearby Share has been replaced with two circular arrows pointing at each other. This new blue and white icon has gained popularity on social media platforms. Quick Share operates on non-Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets through Google Play services. Although Google initially announced a rollout starting in February, recent reports (via Mishaal Rahman) indicate that the feature is already appearing on Pixel and other Android devices. Clicking on Quick Share in the app opens a new full-screen page explaining how the device will appear to others (“Share as”), “Send to your devices,” and “Send to nearby devices.” Google has used a webpage that does not fully showcase the display. The basic functionality remains the same. Quick Share is compatible with version 24.02 of Google Play services; however, there is a server-side issue causing availability to be limited at present. Samsung has already introduced Quick Share for older devices beyond the S24, but the user interface on Galaxy devices, while similar, is not identical (Material You vs One UI).
