PlayStation has officially announced that Until Dawn will be available on PS5 and PC, following a recent report. The announcement was made during the PlayStation State of Play event, revealing that the PS5 version of Until Dawn is set to be released on PC and PS5 within the current year. The upcoming ports will feature graphical and functional enhancements typical of remasters, with developer Ballistic Moon handling the improvements for modern platforms. A State of Play trailer for Until Dawn on PS5 and PC has also been unveiled. Originally released on PS4 in 2015, Until Dawn is an interactive video game created by Supermassive Games. While the studio is now known for its horror games like The Dark Pictures Anthology, Until Dawn played a key role in establishing Supermassive Games as a developer of such titles. “Until Dawn is flawed, but offers an enjoyable experience. Its open-ended narrative may limit its growth, but it serves as a delightful homage to the rich tradition of horror films, offering gameplay that hinges on your choices and their potential consequences,” noted in our review of Until Dawn. In addition to the initial release in 2015, Until Dawn spawned two more games: a rail shooter titled Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, released in 2016, and a prequel, The Inpatient, set 60 years before Until Dawn and launched in 2017. Both spin-offs were designed exclusively for PlayStation VR. Although no direct sequel to Until Dawn was produced, Supermassive Games released a spiritual successor, The Quarry, in 2022. Furthermore, the director behind Lights Out and Shazam! is involved in bringing Until Dawn to the big screen. Taylor is a reporter at IGN. You can follow him on Twitter @TayNixster.
