The ongoing negotiations between the Detroit automakers and the United Auto Workers labor union have taken center stage in the industry. However, despite these discussions, some companies used this year’s Detroit Auto Show to showcase new and revamped car models.

Due to the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic and limited attendance at auto shows, many automakers chose not to reveal their latest models. However, there were still a few key highlights at the event, officially known as the North American International Auto Show.

Here are the major reveals from the Detroit Auto Show:

All-new: 2024 GMC Acadia

General Motors unveiled the completely redesigned 2024 GMC Acadia at the show. The new Acadia is a larger midsize crossover with a more rugged appearance, similar to other GMC models such as the Terrain crossover and Sierra pickup truck.

The 2024 Acadia will be powered by a new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering more power than the outgoing model. Inside, it features a standard 15-inch center control touchscreen and various new safety and convenience technologies, including GM’s Super Cruise highway driver-assistance system.

GMC decided to increase the size of the Acadia in response to customer and dealer feedback about the previous smaller model. Production is expected to begin early next year.

A big refresh: 2024 Ford F-150

Ford revealed its refreshed 2024 F-150 pickup truck lineup during a separate event near the show floor. The revamped truck features updated engines, new interior and exterior designs, and a tailgate that can be accessed like a standard door.

One significant announcement was Ford’s plan to double U.S. production of a hybrid version of the F-150 for the 2024 model year. This follows Ford’s commitment to increase the production of hybrid vehicles as part of its electrification efforts.

A new face: 2025 Cadillac CT5

General Motors also unveiled a refreshed version of its Cadillac CT5 sedan. The 2025 CT5 will feature a restyled front grille, a new touchscreen, and updated lighting. It aims to enhance the driver’s personal connection and overall driving experience, according to Cadillac’s chief engineer.

Some timely updates: 2024 Jeep Gladiator

Stellantis revealed an updated version of its Jeep Gladiator at the show. The 2024 model will come with a refreshed grille, an upgraded touchscreen system, and new off-road features. The Gladiator offers a range of customization options and is known for its open-air driving experience.

While automakers may have limited their participation in this year’s Detroit Auto Show, there were still notable reveals. These models represent the industry’s commitment to innovation and meeting customer expectations.
