Looking at Helldivers 2 from a Third-Person Perspective Enhances Immersion and Game Experience

February 4, 2024

Helldivers 2 PS5 PCOne of the most significant changes in Helldivers 2, compared to its PS4 predecessor, is the introduction of a shoulder camera in the PS5 and PC sequel. This shift to a third-person perspective is aimed at creating a more engaging experience for players. Sagar Beroshi, assistant game director, describes this change as a “game changer” that allows for a different kind of gameplay. He explains, “We have a few design pillars. One of them is to make you feel like a hero who can unleash powerful attacks against multiple enemies. This change is universal and aims to provide players with thrilling and wild cooperative gameplay.” Moreover, Beroshi points out that the new camera perspective enhances the feeling of being fully immersed in the game and allows for better coordination between players. He emphasizes that while this change is substantial for the series, the original Helldivers still holds its value. Beroshi hopes that existing players will be open to trying out the new gameplay style and sharing their feedback. So, what are your thoughts on the new camera style in Helldivers 2?
