According to Moscow-backed officials, an attack by Ukrainian forces resulted in the death of at least 28 individuals at a bakery in Lysychansk, an area under Russian occupation. Among the casualties, there was at least one child, as reported by local leader Leonid Pasechnik on Telegram. Additionally, emergency services managed to rescue 10 people from under the debris. Ukrainian authorities in Kyiv have not provided any official statements on the matter. Both Moscow and Kyiv have increasingly engaged in longer-range attacks during the winter, despite the largely unchanged positions on the 1,500-kilometer front line of the ongoing 2-year-old war. The military administration of Ukraine’s Sumy region confirmed that Russian forces shelled the region in 16 separate attacks the day before, targeting the border communities of Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Krasnopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, and Esman.
