The issue, however, is that many users are reporting that this doesn’t seem to work as expected, and may actually be having the opposite effect. It is worth noting that while there is enough evidence of this issue, there are also users who report different experiences. Nevertheless, there are enough people experiencing significant drops in capture rates after visiting Lifmunk Effigies that it might be prudent to avoid them until a patch is released. The Lifmunk Effigy bug, as described in a 21-minute video by YouTuber Chalenor, appears to notably decrease capture rates when visiting Lifmunk Effigies. By Chalenor’s account, before visiting the Effigies, he had a capture rate of 53%. After removing all the Effigies, however, his capture rate dropped to 37%. As Paul Tassi notes in Forbes, “that’s not a small margin of error.” However, as a Palworld user states on the game’s official Discord server, “the only reliable way [to increase capture rates] is to gather as many of them as possible if the Effigies are indeed detrimental to the Pal population.” Without official confirmation from Pocketpair (the developer has acknowledged bugs in the past), there is still much uncertainty surrounding this issue. However, with a Reddit post discussing the problem, as outlined in Chalenor’s video, now gaining 9.2 thousand upvotes, it is clear that many others are reporting similar experiences. Kotaku has reached out to Pocketpair for comment. How to increase your capture rates without Effigies For now, it seems best to avoid Effigies until Pocketpair addresses the issue officially. Increasing your capture rates, however, can be as straightforward as crafting better Pal Spheres. You can also freeze or electrocute Pals to improve your chances of capturing them.
