This represents an increase from 132.46 million in November. According to Bloomberg, Nintendo’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, stated that the Switch, particularly the current model, will continue to be the company’s “major focus” going into 2024, and declined to comment on any plans for new hardware. The company now projects the sale of 15.5 million Switch units by the end of the fiscal year in March, including 5 million additional game titles. Although total sales dropped 6% year-over-year, it was less than expected, given that the Switch has been on the market for seven years. The system continues to surpass expectations as it approaches its eighth year on the market, while rumors of new Nintendo hardware persist. Additionally, gross profit increased by 11.5% year-on-year, operating profit increased by 13.1%, and sales of “mobile and IP-related business” grew by 93.4% due to higher video-related sales and royalties, according to the report.
Photo: Nintendo The OLED model of the Switch also experienced significant sales growth during the period of April-December last year, “with demands not only for the initial purchase, but also for additional and supplementary purchases,” as stated in the report. The number of users playing software in 2023 also increased to 122 million. The breakdown of hardware and sales for the first three quarters of the fiscal year includes: Hardware sales in FY2024/Apr-Dec: 13.74 million; Total Standard Switch sales in FY2024/Apr- Dec: 3.4 million; Total Switch OLED sales in FY2024/Apr-Dec: 8.17 million; Total Switch Lite sales in FY2024/Apr-Dec: 2.18 million. As of December 31, 2023, the total Nintendo hardware sales figures are as follows: Console Total Sales (Millions) DS 154.02; Switch 139.18; Game Boy 9. 101.63; Game Boy Advance 81.51; 3DS 75.94; Family Computer / NES 61.91; Super Family Computer / SNES 49.10; N64 32.93; GameCube 21.74; Wii U 13.56. Despite speculation about a new Nintendo hardware, it seems that Nintendo is in no hurry to make an announcement.
