Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 hints at the arrival of Android 15 with an Easter egg

Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 hints at the arrival of Android 15 with an Easter egg
February 8, 2024

With the release of Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1 today, Google has hinted at the upcoming Android 15 release through a tweak to an Easter egg. In a tradition, Google adds a new Easter egg to the Settings menu with each new version of Android. These range from fun cartoons to popular games. In Android 14, an Easter egg was designed for space, coinciding with the update’s support for satellite connections. When you long-press the Easter egg in Android 14, the device vibrates like a spaceship taking off, followed by a game that challenges you to find planets around stars using coordinates. However, the latest Android 14 beta brings a change to the Easter egg. Instead of the round NASA badge, the QPR3 Beta 1 features a triangular design with the same colors as the Android logo, but the “Android 14” label is removed. What does this mean? Although there are no confirmed changes, the inverted triangle likely holds significance. Android 14 is the “U” in the alphabetical order that Android has followed for years, and Android 15 is set to be a “V.” This isn’t a coincidence, particularly as recent Android betas have featured the same Easter egg as the previous release, with some kind of tweak. At present, there is no news on when the first previews of Android 15 will be released, but reports suggest it will arrive in February or March. Given the Easter egg tweak, it seems that Google’s next major release is just around the corner. More on Android: Follow Ben: Twitter/X, Threads, and Instagram FTC: We use affiliate links.
