Welcome to the Daily Telescope. We acknowledge the darkness in the world and strive to bring more light and science. Instead of offering daily horoscopes, we are inspired by authentic images of the wondrous universe.
Good morning. It’s February 8, and today’s photo captures NGC 2170 in the skies over Arizona. The reddish nebula in the center of the frame is a vast expanse of cosmic dust reflecting the light from nearby bright stars. The image also features other nebulae and bright stars, contributing to the vibrant appearance. NGC 2170 is located in the Monoceros constellation, which translates to “one-horned.”
The image is credited to Mel Martin, known for an impressive collection of astrophotography on their website.
