Neuralink, billionaire Elon Musk’s company specializing in cybernetic implants, has moved its location of incorporation from Delaware to Nevada, according to state records. This change comes shortly after Musk announced that Tesla planned to transfer its incorporation to Texas from Delaware, following a judge’s decision to void his $56 billion pay package. After the ruling, Musk advised others against incorporating their companies in Delaware. Neuralink did not provide immediate comments in response to FOX Business’ request for feedback.
While a Delaware judge recently ruled that Tesla’s 2018 share-based pay package was unfair to shareholders, Musk took to X, previously known as Twitter, to poll users on whether Tesla should change its state of incorporation to Texas. The poll resulted in 87.1% in favor of the move and 12.9% against, with over 1.1 million users participating. This prompted Musk to declare that “Tesla will move immediately to hold a shareholder vote to transfer state of incorporation to Texas.” Legal experts have warned that relocating Tesla’s incorporation could lead to investor lawsuits, especially if it is perceived as a move to secure Musk’s pay package.
Last week, Musk also revealed that Neuralink had successfully implanted its first brain chip into a human patient, who is reportedly recovering well. Moreover, Neuralink is currently recruiting participants for its first-in-human clinical trial of its wireless brain-computer interface (BCI) to assess the safety and effectiveness of its implant (N1) and surgical robot (R1), with the goal of enabling paralyzed individuals to control external devices with their thoughts.
Musk shared that the first version of Neuralink is called Telepathy, which allows individuals to control their phone or computer, and nearly any other device, simply by thinking. The initial users targeted for this technology are those who have lost the use of their limbs, with the aim of enabling communication at speeds faster than a professional typist or auctioneer.
