Hybrid working gains popularity among Indian companies
“We continue to work flexibly and offer hybrid ways of working that unlock productivity and help individuals find a meaningful and balanced way of working,” said a spokesperson of India’s largest consumer goods maker HUL, maker of Dove soap and Lipton tea

Despite the return of in-office work, many large corporates in India have embraced hybrid working and made it a permanent arrangement, according to industry executives and search firms. Companies such as Apple, Hindustan Unilever (HUL), ITC, Maruti, Nestlé, PepsiCo, and Tech Mahindra, among others, have adopted a hybrid working model for some or all of their employees.

Companies are seeing the benefits of hybrid working and are tailoring their workplaces to support this model. For example, PepsiCo India has designed its new headquarters in Gurgaon to facilitate hybrid work culture, allowing employees to choose their work settings and not requiring them to come to the office every day. Mercedes-Benz India has implemented a system where white-collar employees can work two to three days from the office and the remaining days from home. McCain Foods has adopted a hybrid model where employees are present in the office for 12 days each month.

The popularity of hybrid jobs is increasing, with a 40% rise in job openings for such roles from May to August, according to a report by Xpheno. This surge in hybrid work options reflects the preference of both employees and employers. Remote jobs, however, have not seen the same level of growth.

Hybrid working has been adopted across different roles within organizations, depending on the nature of the work. It is a flexible arrangement that allows companies to unlock productivity while offering individuals a balanced and meaningful work experience. Top cities for hybrid job openings in India include Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Chennai, with sectors such as IT services, tech startups, telecommunications, software development, and banking leading the way.

Overall, hybrid working has gained traction in India, offering a flexible and productive approach to work for employees and organizations alike.
