While deals on PS Plus subscriptions have been scarce since last year’s revamp, there are third-party options available. What has changed?

Previously, PlayStation offered two separate subscription services: PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. PlayStation Plus provided access to online play, multiplayer games, two free games per month, cloud storage, and PlayStation Store discounts for $10 per month. On the other hand, PlayStation Now was a cloud gaming service with a library of classic titles from PS2, PS3, and PS4, also priced at $10 per month. The new PS Plus combines both memberships into one service, offering three different subscription levels with varying features and benefits.

PS Plus Required

For $10 per month, $25 for three months, or $80 for a year, the PS Plus Required subscription offers the same features as the previous PS Plus membership. This includes access to online play, two free games per month, cloud storage, and PlayStation Store discounts. If you had a PS Plus membership before the update, it was automatically converted to a Premium membership.

PS Plus Extras

At $15 per month, $40 for three months, or $135 for a year, the PS Plus Extras subscription is similar to Xbox’s Game Pass Ultimate membership. It includes all the benefits of the Essential membership, along with access to a catalog of up to 400 PS4 and PS5 games. The selection features popular titles like God of War, Death Stranding, and Ghost of Tsushima.

PS Plus Premium

The PS Plus Premium membership is the highest tier option, priced at $18 per month, $50 for three months, or $160 for a year. In addition to the Basic and Extras benefits, it provides access to a vast library of over 700 games, including the latest PS4 and PS5 hits from the Extras subscription, as well as over 300 games from the PS1, PS2, and PS3 eras (similar to the previous PS Now subscriptions). With PS Plus Premium, you can download and play many of these top titles without worrying about storage space. You also have the opportunity to play games without a time limit, allowing you to try new games before making a purchase. If you were subscribed to PS Now before the update, your membership was automatically converted to a PlayStation Plus Premium membership.

In the past, Sony has offered direct discounts on PS Plus subscriptions during major sales events like Play Days. However, currently, there are no direct discounts available. Nevertheless, if you’re interested in the Essential-tier membership, there is still a way to save.

CDKeys is currently the only place to find discounted Sony game subscriptions. They are offering a deal on the original PS Plus subscription, which automatically converts to a Premium membership upon renewal. While we haven’t personally tested it, several reviewers have reported successfully redeeming these old tokens. Premium Memberships usually cost $80 per year, already a discount compared to monthly rates. At CD Keys, you can currently get an annual subscription for $70, bringing the monthly price down to less than $6. While you won’t have access to a vast library of games, you’ll still be able to play online and receive two free games each month.
