The Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had shot down multiple Ukrainian drones in annexed Crimea, the Black Sea, and western Russia. This includes the destruction of 19 drones over the Black Sea and the Republic of Crimea, according to a statement on the messaging app Telegram.
Mikhail Razvozhayev, the governor of Sevastopol appointed by the Kremlin, refuted the claim that several drones had been destroyed near the city. He clarified that the air defense operations were focused on the rest of Crimea, which is governed separately from Sevastopol.
Razvozhayev assured residents of Sevastopol that all services were on alert and closely monitoring the air situation. He urged them to remain calm and advised staying away from windows if they hear the sounds of drones or air defense systems. Official information will be provided later.
In other parts of western Russia, specifically in the Kursk, Belgorod, and Oryol regions, the Defense Ministry reported successfully thwarting three drone attacks. These incidents occurred amid Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive, which has seen a rise in drone attacks against Russia.
Russian officials have downplayed the significance of these attacks.
