When it comes to pushing the boundaries, few do it like Adam Bennetts. Although he didn’t start surfing until later in life, his years as a professional surfer in Bali were transformative. The growing interest in foiling initially didn’t sit well with Bennetts, until he decided to give it a try upon returning to Australia. He quickly became captivated by the experience, finding that foiling enhanced almost every aspect of surfing. “I’m a surfer at heart, but what I love about foiling is how it enhances almost every part of the surf,” he expressed. “You run faster when you paddle and foil, you get more time—1-3 minutes per ride compared to 10-15 seconds when surfing. And perhaps most importantly, you get away from the crowds, ensuring that your time in the water is always fulfilling.” Bennett has now discovered a new passion in the form of a device from a company called Fliteboard. His enthusiasm caught the attention of the brand’s founder, David Trewern, who reached out to Bennetts to collaborate on developing and promoting future products. The board in question—AMPTM—stands out as a game-changer, designed to ride previously impossible unbroken waves or stormy winds with the feel of a traditional board, eliminating the need for specialized equipment. Looking ahead, Bennetts believes that foiling represents the future of surfing, offering the potential to ride endless waves with unprecedented power. “I see foiling as the future of surfing to some extent, or a great addition to it,” he remarked. “Surfing is about riding high waves, but foiling gives us a level of power that we never thought possible, enabling us to now ride endless waves (or any water with Fliteboard’s electronic technology). Ultimately, it’s all about having fun and spending more time on the water, making it a win-win for everyone involved.”
