An American tourist tragically lost her life after being attacked by a shark during a vacation in the Bahamas, as confirmed by local authorities.
The 58-year-old woman was snorkeling with her family when she was fatally mauled by a bull shark.
The incident occurred near Green Cay island, approximately half a mile away from Rose Island where another American woman was killed in a shark attack in 2019.
The family members witnessed the bull shark attacking the woman, and employees from the tour company and the family rushed to her aid.
The victim, a resident of Pennsylvania, was taken to a local hospital where she was sadly pronounced dead. According to the police, she sustained injuries to her upper body.

The woman and her family were passengers on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas cruise. The snorkeling trip was an independent shore excursion.
Royal Caribbean International, the cruise company, confirmed the incident and stated that they are providing support and assistance to the family of the victim.
“It’s just an unfortunate situation,” said Royal Bahamas Police Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings during a news conference.
The tragic incident follows a previous shark attack in the Bahamas, where an 8-year-old British boy was attacked by three nurse sharks a month ago.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers present in shared spaces and the need for caution when engaging in water activities.
“My son could have been killed,” expressed Michael Downer, the father of the previous shark attack victim. “It was like a scene out of Jaws.”
