Apple is launching operating system updates for various devices, including iOS 17 for iPhones and WatchOS 10 for Apple Watches. The company announced the release dates on Tuesday alongside the unveiling of the new iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra.

Previously, Apple had released beta versions of its software updates earlier this year, but now users can expect the final versions on specific dates.

Here’s a rundown of when the new updates will be available and what you should know about them.

iPadOS 17

Apple’s iPadOS 17 will also be released on Monday. According to CNET’s Scott Stein, who reviewed the beta version, “iPadOS 17 doesn’t feel like a change,” but he added, “It’s an extension that makes iPadOS more capable, even if it’s not a Mac.”

To download and install the new software, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

tvOS 17 for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD

Apple stated in an email to CNET that tvOS 17 will be available starting on Monday. With tvOS 17, Apple TV 4K and HD users will soon be able to use Facetime on their TVs.

Apple TVs should display a notification when a new software update is available. To manually check for updates, go to Settings > System > Software Update.

macOS Sonoma

A new version of the Mac software, macOS Sonoma, will be available on September 26. It will feature more customizable widgets and introduce video displays.

To manually update your macOS, go to Apple Menu > System Settings > General > Software Update. If you wish to check for updates for apps downloaded from the App Store, go to Apple Menu > App Store.
