Apple has reportedly decreased its orders for parts related to its upcoming OLED iPad Pro models, indicating lower-than-expected sales projections for the company.
Apple Predicts Lower Sales for OLED iPad Pro Models
According to a report from Aju Korea Daily, cited by TrendForce, Apple has reduced orders for OLED display panels for the next-generation iPad Pro by 20 to 30%. Apple’s initial order of ten million panels was divided between LG Display and Samsung, with six million and four million units, respectively. The reduction is expected to impact LG’s system more significantly, down to three to four million units, while Samsung’s system remains unchanged. This also indicates that it mainly affects the 13-inch iPad Pro as Samsung only offers 11.1-inch panels.

The increased order suggests that Apple plans to sell more new models of the iPad Pro than initially anticipated. Some reports have indicated that the adoption of OLED display technology will result in higher prices for the iPad Pro models. The starting price for the 11-inch OLED iPad Pro is expected to be $1,500, while the 13-inch model may start at $1,800. Currently, the 11-inch iPad Pro is priced from $799, while the 12.9-inch model with a mini-LED display is priced from $1,099. This could potentially contribute to Apple’s expectation of lower sales. Recent reports suggest that the new iPad Pro models are slated to be launched in March or April with larger displays, the M3 chip, MagSafe charging, and support for the Magic Keyboard accessory.
