Several owners reported being locked out of the device after entering the wrong password multiple times. After contacting Apple Support, users were informed that the only solution was to return the product to the store for a reset. This issue was initially reported by Bloomberg. When customers brought their devices to an Apple Store, employees used a Developer Cable—a $300 accessory that connects the Vision Pro to a Mac via USB-C—to wipe and reset the device. The Vision Pro is currently the only Apple device that cannot be reset by the user at home. Moreover, the fact that the Developer Cable is necessary is a problem, as it is only available to members of the Apple Developer Program and not to the general public. Customers were frustrated to encounter this inconvenience shortly after purchasing the Vision Pro, which recently became available for sale in the US. Apple employees were also unprepared to address this problem. One user shared on Apple’s community forums that Apple Support was aware of the issue and apologized for the inconvenience. Gizmodo reached out to Apple for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
