Something strange is happening in an Oregon neighborhood.
Sony and vacation rental company Vacasa have partnered to offer one adventurous group of friends a unique three-night stay in the Ghostbusters Firehouse.
The building, inspired by the 1984 film “Ghostbusters,” is located in Portland instead of New York City where the movie is set. Nevertheless, it is an ideal place to embark on a ghost-catching venture.
The three-story firehouse is equipped with all the necessary tools: a P.K.E. Meter, Ghost Traps, Proton Packs, an Aura Video-Analyzer, and an Ecto-Containment Unit for storing captured spirits. Even Ecto-1, the Ghostbusters’ vehicle, is parked in the firehouse bay.
Guests are welcome to wear the iconic Ghostbusters fight suits and indulge in creepy activities like enjoying Stay Puft Marshmallows. Just be careful not to make eye contact with the cursed painting of “Vigo the Carpathian,” the primary antagonist of “Ghostbusters II” released in 1989.
Allison Lowrie, chief marketing officer at Vacasa, stated, “We’re dedicated to the details, and this Ghostbusters Firehouse in Portland is no exception.” She added, “Every room offers a new discovery, from an interactive Ghost Containment Unit to symmetrical book stacking and walls filled with scientific, ghost-hunting equipment. It is designed to be enjoyed by Ghostbusters superfans and travelers with a sense of ’80s nostalgia.”
This immersive experience is available from October 28 to 31, the perfect time of year to experience paranormal activity.
Guests who dare to book the three-night stay can do so on October 21 at 10 a.m. PT for a nightly rate of $19.84. This rate was chosen to commemorate the year “Ghostbusters” was released, Vacasa explained in a news release. Since the experience is first-come, first-serve, make sure to mark your calendars.
Even if you can’t stay at the firehouse, don’t worry. You can still take a virtual tour of the building through a Matterport 360 experience available on the rental listing.
