A Bahamas resort where two mothers from Kentucky claim they were possibly drugged and sexually assaulted by two employees has stated that the women’s version of events does not correspond with its security footage.

Amber Shearer and Dongayla Dobson asserted that they were attacked in daylight by employees at Pirate’s Cove while they were relaxing on the beach during their cruise ship’s stop at Grand Island in the Bahamas.

The friends mentioned that they were offered a drink special by an employee, but within 15 minutes, they began to feel extremely intoxicated. They were then led by a staff member to a secluded area to look for shells, where Shearer claims she regained consciousness while being assaulted by a uniformed man.

They reported the assault to Royal Bahamas police, who subsequently arrested two men. The police stated that the investigation is still ongoing. However, Pirate’s Cove alleges that surveillance footage reveals inconsistencies in the women’s accounts.

Pirate’s Cove also affirmed that the two employees have been dismissed, citing their actions captured on tape as a violation of their zero-tolerance policy.

The cruise company, Carnival Cruise, confirmed that two guests aboard the Carnival Elation reported the sexual assault, which occurred during an independent shore excursion.

Dobson and Shearer asserted that they felt something was wrong after consuming their cocktails on the beach. After undergoing toxicology tests on the cruise ship, they discovered various drugs in their systems, along with minimal alcohol and bruising on their legs.

Less than a week before their trip, the Bahamian Prime Minister had stated that the country was a safe destination for tourists. However, just over a week after the U.S. State Department issued a level 2 advisory, the two women were allegedly assaulted.

The women expressed their belief that Carnival should have cautioned them about the potential risks in the Bahamas. Their lawyer emphasized that Carnival has a duty to warn about dangerous conditions they should have known about. Carnival stated that they are cooperating with the authorities’ investigation.
