Bill Cosby, who has recently been freed from prison, has been sued by a former Playboy model named Victoria Valentino who has accused him of drugging and sexually assaulting her more than 50 years ago. Ms. Valentino filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles, under a new California law that is temporarily lifting the statute of limitations in sexual assault cases. The incident is said to have happened in 1969 when Ms. Valentino and a friend met Cosby for a meal in a restaurant. A spokesperson for Cosby denied the accusations and criticized the look-back windows that have taken effect in California and other states. This law allows victims to take legal action even if the incident is past the statute of limitations. Cosby has previously been accused and convicted of similar crimes against women, although he has consistently denied all accusations, stating that his sexual encounters have always been consensual.
