The NAMM show is always packed with a wide range of musical instruments, but Casio’s Dimension Tripper stands out as it offers a unique feature—a wireless speaker that can be used with a guitar strap. This device functions as an expression pedal, but it comes in a non-pedal form. While there are various types and sizes of controllers available, such as faders, rollers, and lasers, the Dimension Tripper sets itself apart by allowing you to control your guitar itself instead of using a traditional pedal or hand-operated fader.
The system consists of two parts: a transmitter that attaches between the end of your belt and the string button on your guitar, and a receiver. The retractable transmitter sends information over Bluetooth to the receiver. Despite the potential for interference, the system has a minimal delay of about 20ms at its best, and the visual feedback makes it easy to see when the sensor on the transmitter is activated.

These two components are larger than expected. The receiver is about the size of a standard guitar and features two foot switches, while the transmitter is approximately 5 inches long and 1 inch thick. Using the Dimension Tripper, one can create effects like volume cuts, boosts, or switch controls typically managed by foot switches.
Although it may feel a bit different initially, using the Dimension Tripper quickly becomes quite natural. Casio is currently conducting a crowdfunding campaign, offering the Dimension Tripper for 32,736 yen (approximately $221). Its long-term prospects beyond the campaign remain uncertain.
