There are new worries about the post office considering changes to the Manchester processing center. The New Hampshire congressional delegation wrote to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy asking for more details about an ongoing review. The review may result in the relocation of most mail processing activities from Manchester to the Boston facility, a move Sen. Jeanne Shaheen believes would adversely impact the Granite State. “That would raise concerns about the affected jobs. It also means that mail delivery to people in New Hampshire, especially in rural communities where people rely on timely receipt of prescription drugs and social security payroll checks, would be significantly delayed,” stated Shaheen. The delegation is also requesting the Postal Service to reschedule the public feedback meeting, which is currently planned for a weekday afternoon. A USPS spokesperson informed News 9 last month that “There are no plans to shut down the facility.” The spokesperson added, “The facility is being evaluated to determine whether some processing operations can be relocated elsewhere or if other operations can be moved there to better align with the reconfiguration of our processing and transportation network.”
