Following a teaser by Hideo Kojima, a new trailer for Death Stranding 2 has been unveiled, along with additional details, including the subtitle, “On the Beach,” and the release window of 2025. Showcased as part of the 2024 State of Play event, Kojima Productions introduced a new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The trailer features Norman Reedus, who offers a glimpse of the weapons storage facility, as well as a visit to the train. The main character, Sam Bridges, is shown working for a simple clothier named Drawbridge who has a “generous assistant.” Sam also aims to connect the world and bring new areas online, while he carries a peculiar little toy by his side and appears to move at a slower pace than the rest of the game. The game appears to be more ambitious than its predecessors, as it boasts ample space. And we're back. The narrator states, “You helped bring America together, helped make it UCA, but I'm afraid that Death Stranding is far away. Humanity is still in danger, it's still in danger of extinction.” In addition, the trailer provides a glimpse of Higgs as a robo-samurai who bears a resemblance to Sting and wields an arc welder-like electric guitar. As expected in a Hideo Kojima game, many characters including BB-28 make a return. Sam, along with his companions, embarks on a new mission to save humanity from extinction, traversing a world plagued by alien enemies, obstacles, and the pressing question: can we ever connect? Legendary game developer Hideo Kojima appears to be set on changing the world once more. Prior to today’s trailer, little was known about Death Stranding 2, only that the game was announced at the 2022 Game Awards. Kojima later disclosed that he had to rewrite the script for Death Stranding 2 because he “didn't want to predict the future.” It has been an eventful week for Death Stranding enthusiasts, with yesterday’s release of Death Stranding: The Director's Cut for Apple devices, including the iPhone 15 Pro. Additionally, Kojima Productions teamed up with Backbone to launch a limited edition Backbone One controller to coincide with the port's release date. Death Stranding 2 State of Play Trailer However, Death Stranding is expanding beyond its gaming boundaries. In December 2022, it was revealed that a film based on the first Death Stranding game was in the works. Last December, A24, in collaboration with Kojima Productions, was announced to be working on adapting the game for the big screen. In addition to Death Stranding 2, Hideo Kojima and his studio are developing a new project titled OD, which was announced at the 2023 Game Awards and is a collaboration with Xbox Game Studios. The initial trailer revealed the involvement of Jordan Peele and actor Hunter Schafer. Furthermore, a new spy game is also on the horizon following the release of Death Stranding 2. Death Stranding 2 was featured in PlayStation's State of Play stream, alongside a look at Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, and more.
