Details of Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 and Laptop Go 4 Leak Before AI Event

September 16, 2023

Microsoft’s upcoming special event on September 21 is expected to showcase the company’s advancements in AI. While the event will likely focus on highlighting Microsoft’s AI capabilities, it will also feature important announcements, particularly in the realm of hardware.

According to leaks obtained by WinFuture.de, based on European sales data, Microsoft will unveil the Surface Laptop Go 4 and Surface Laptop Studio 2. These are incremental updates to their predecessors, the Surface Laptop Studio and the Surface Go 3 Laptop. It’s worth noting that Microsoft frequently releases new versions of their Surface Pro tablet as well, so we can’t discount the possibility of a Surface Pro 9 announcement.

The Surface Laptop Studio 2, a 14-inch device, was launched in 2021 and did not receive any updates last year. This year, it is expected to receive a processor and graphics upgrade, featuring the Intel Core i7-13700H or i7-13800H and Nvidia’s 8GB GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. The update also includes Wi-Fi 6E and a new version of Bluetooth.

Leaked information suggests that the Surface Laptop Studio 2 will feature a small SD card slot, which is disguised as a power connection port.

Both devices are designed for graphics and video editing, with the Surface Laptop Studio 2 offering enhanced gaming and AI performance with the RTX 4060 GPU, compared to the current model’s RTX 3050 Ti GPU. Additionally, there is a model that utilizes Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, although Intel’s H processors are not the most powerful in terms of integrated graphics.

The Surface Laptop Studio 2 is expected to feature increased storage options of up to a 2TB SSD, as well as 64GB LPDDR5X memory. It will also include a small SD card slot and a USB-A connection. The display is rumored to offer strong HDR support, and the overall design remains similar to the previous model with its noticeable bezels.

With its unique features like drag-to-tilt and position-closer-to-closer capabilities, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 occupies a distinct niche. However, Microsoft is also venturing into the flexible laptop market with a new foldable design, as seen in the upcoming HP Foldable PC.

On the other hand, the Surface Laptop Go 4 is expected to see minor updates, such as an upgrade to the Core i5-1235U processor. This device is primarily targeted for the K-12 education market, which emphasizes stability and consistency.

While WinFuture provides pricing and availability details for Europe, information about US shipping and pricing is not yet available.

As of now, Microsoft has not issued any official comments regarding these leaks.
