Located in MALIBU, California, the $2.1 million Rimac Nevera stands out for its ease of use and exceptional performance.
The Rimac Nevera is an electric hypercar from Croatia. Despite its low profile, entering the vehicle is surprisingly straightforward as the doors lift up and out like those of a Lamborghini, providing ample headroom. The car’s gear shifting is controlled by a large knob next to the steering wheel, and the power seat adjustments are operated through a touchscreen. The turn signals and headlights are conveniently located on the steering wheel. Once familiar with these features, operating the Rimac Nevera becomes effortless.
Its simplicity in operation is remarkable, considering its immense power of 1,914 horsepower.
As the test drive begins, it becomes evident that visibility is excellent in the Nevera. This is not always the case with other sports cars where rearview vision can be a challenge. Despite its low height, the Nevera has a sufficient rear window and side mirrors that greatly aid driving in highway traffic.
The car also emits mechanical sounds that remind the driver of its remarkable power. With four electric motors, the Rimac Nevera produces a distinct mechanical hum as it cruises down the road. It’s undeniably a special driving experience.
Indeed, the Rimac Nevera is an exceptional vehicle, justifying its price tag of over $2 million. Watch the video to learn more.
The Story of Rimac
Rimac Automobili, the first and only automaker in Croatia, was founded by Mate Rimac at the age of 35. Mate Rimac’s fascination with electric vehicles began after he blew the engine of an old BMW he used to race as a teenager. After rebuilding the car with an electric drivetrain and achieving racing success, he established Rimac Automobili in 2009 with the dream of developing an electric supercar in his home country.
Although Rimac faced challenges in its early years, Mate’s timing turned out to be fortuitous, with global automakers transitioning towards electrification.
Rimac’s early prototypes attracted significant investments from Hyundai and Porsche. Last year, the company secured an additional 500 million euros (approximately $534 million). These funds formed the foundation of Rimac’s thriving business, which includes consulting with traditional automakers interested in creating high-performance electric vehicles. Rimac has partnered with Aston Martin, Koenigsegg, and other undisclosed clients.
Nevera, the name of the car, represents the powerful summer storms that sweep across Croatia from the Adriatic Sea. Rimac employees describe neveras as extraordinary storms highly charged with lightning, symbolizing the electric hypercar.
The Nevera is equipped with four motors, one for each wheel, and a 120-kilowatt-hour battery pack, providing approximately 300 miles of range under normal driving conditions.
Unmatched Performance
What sets the Nevera apart is its exceptional power output. With a total of 1,914 horsepower and 2,360 newton-meters of torque, the car can reach a top speed of 258 miles per hour. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 1.74 seconds, according to Rimac.
Driving the Nevera confirms its incredible speed. Despite its impressive acceleration, the car remains controllable and allows for a thrilling yet safe driving experience. The ability of the four motors to adjust their power output 100 times per second ensures optimal handling, enabling the Nevera to navigate tight corners with ease.
Remarkably, the Nevera manages its weight of around 5,100 pounds exceptionally well. The batteries are strategically placed low and near the car’s center, enabling superior weight distribution. The result is a car that feels incredibly balanced and agile. Additionally, the Nevera exhibits a stylish and refined design, featuring flawless carbon fiber on the exterior and comfortable leather in the interior. The car pays homage to Croatian heritage with side intakes resembling a cravat, a traditional Croatian necktie from the 16th century.
The Nevera is priced at 2 million euros or just over $2.1 million. With a limited production run of only 150 units, interested buyers are encouraged to act quickly.
