DOT: A plane from American Airlines landed at Kahului Airport, requiring medical transport

HONOLULU (KHON2) — There was pandemonium at Kahului Airport in Maui when an American Airlines flight that landed needed medical attention.

Around 2:21 p.m. on Saturday, the Maui Police Department received a central dispatch call regarding the incident.

OGG confirmed there was a need for medical transport.

Authorities stated that American Airlines flight 271 encountered an issue upon landing after flying in from Los Angeles.

“The aircraft taxied to the gate under its own power and customers deplaned normally,” said American Airlines in a statement.

Out of the 167 customers and seven crew members on the aircraft, American Airlines reported that five flight attendants and one passenger were taken to a local hospital and were later discharged.
