Larry Ellison, a Tesla board member, reportedly invited Elon Musk to his Hawaii estate to address concerns about Musk’s behavior stemming from alleged drug use, as per the Wall Street Journal.
Musk, who heads SpaceX and the social media platform X, has acknowledged using ketamine for depression treatment. However, he has also been reported to consume recreational drugs such as LSD and ecstasy with Tesla board members, Steve Jurvetson and Antonio Gracias.
Jurvetson and Gracias, along with six other board members, have close relationships with Musk and hold substantial shares, exceeding those of directors at other publicly traded companies.
According to The Journal, Musk has fostered a culture where friends and board members are expected to partake in drug use with him, fearing that refusing would upset him.
Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle, has a close relationship with Musk and owns the majority of the Hawaiian island of Lana’i. He has hosted Musk on multiple occasions and extended the invitation for Musk to visit when concerns about his drug use arose.
The Journal reported that Musk consumed a liquid form of ecstasy at a party in Hollywood Hills, with his bodyguards securing privacy for the act.
Musk has also allegedly attended drug-fueled parties with his brother and Tesla board member, Kimbal, at Hotel El Ganzo in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, as reported by The Journal.
Last month, The Journal reported that Musk had used cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, and magic mushrooms. Musk responded on X, denying the allegations and questioning the credibility of The Journal.
In 2018, Musk smoked marijuana during an interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast, which led to the federal government subjecting him to random drug testing due to SpaceX’s status as a NASA contractor.
