Google will be running a Pixel ad during the Super Bowl that focuses on the utilization of the Guided Frame camera. Update 2/2: “Javier in the Frame” (voiceover) is now live. The Pixel 8 Super Bowl ad from Google for 2024 is a minute long. The tagline is “Capture life, no matter what” while emphasizing “Guided Frame with Google AI.” It was developed by Google Creative Lab in collaboration with GUT. Early 1/31: Google introduced Guided Frame on the Pixel 7 to aid individuals who are visually impaired or have low vision in taking selfies with the help of audio prompts (e.g., “Put your phone down,” “One face in this photo,” and “Hold the photo”), responses to haptic, and various animations. With the Pixel 8, rear camera support was introduced. In addition to faces, Guided Frame can now detect objects, such as dogs and food. This Super Bowl ad “is about a blind man and his friend, and we follow them on their journey to get closer.” It’s being shot by blindfolded director Adam Morse, and Made by Google shared a behind-the-scenes look at the day. This visually impaired person can capture all these significant moments in their relationship with the Guided Frame AI feature. Google calls Guided Frame an “AI feature” for active content recognition: We use Google AI to power Guided Frame to recognize content and communicate it to users. The Pixel 8 Pro with Direct Frames is used by actors, though real commercials are filmed using a standard camera. Oil was applied “on the lens to try to give us a basis for how the image will look.” I’m doing my best to translate my blind experience into reality, which can also be accessed by sighted people. Adam Morse Expect full Pixel 8 ads on Sunday, February 11 at Super Bowl LVIII (San Francisco 49ers vs. Kansas City Chiefs). This follows the Pixel 6 Real Tone commercial in 2022 and last year’s Pixel 7 Magic Eraser clip. It remains to be seen whether other parts of the company will go public.
