Google Bard is undergoing a significant transformation as it is expected to be rebranded as “Gemini”, introducing a new Android app and more in the coming week. Over the last few months, Google has been rapidly enhancing Bard, its interactive AI, with a range of new features and capabilities. Last year, Bard was updated with “Gemini” as a background model and recently gained a photo generator. However, Google has been working on a significant change for Bard. Evidence online suggests that Google is planning to rebrand Bard as “Gemini,” aligning it with the name of the original model. An initial change observed by Dylan Roussel suggests that the rebranding is imminent. The update, scheduled for February 7, states that “Bard is now a Gemini” and offers insight into Google’s intentions. The update also states that “Gemini Pro” now powers Bard in all supported countries and languages. The update is in line with Google’s commitment to provide access to Google AI for all, as it promises access to Google’s best family of AI models for everyone using Gemini in supported countries and languages. This move has prompted the change of name from Bard to Gemini. Additionally, a new tier named “Advanced” was announced in December 2023, built on “Gemini Ultra,” the most capable of Google’s models. The update specifies that this will be a paid product and will include additional features such as support for better typing, uploading and analyzing files, documents, and more. The rebranded Google Gemini will also be accompanied by an Android app, enabling users to interact with Google AI on their smartphones. The app will be integrated with Google apps like Gmail, Maps, and YouTube, allowing users to perform various tasks using voice, text, or images. The app is set to be available on select devices and is initially expanding to the US, Japan, Korea, and English-speaking regions worldwide, with more countries and languages to follow. Furthermore, the launch of Google Gemini in Canada is also scheduled for February 7. As always, there is a possibility of some changes before the official announcement, including the exact launch date. Nevertheless, the development of these updates has been swift.
