The popular repair website, iFixit, has shared a detailed written teardown and video teardown of the Apple Vision Pro, giving an inside look at the mixed headset.
iFixit’s disassembly of the Vision Pro has unveiled various internal components, including multiple cameras and sensors, fans, lens motors, and more. As expected, it seems that opening and repairing the headphones is a challenging task. iFixit noted, “EyeSight appears to be repair’s Achilles’ heel – too many points of failure due to dangerous factors. But let’s give Apple credit where it’s due: easily replaceable speakers and a battery are a great achievement.” The Vision Pro is powered by an M2 processor with an 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine, and 16GB of integrated memory. Other specifications include up to 1TB of storage, and a new R1 device that “generates input from 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones to ensure that content sounds as if it’s in front of the user.” Wallpaper* had earlier shared an image of the Vision Pro’s internals as part of a special discussion about Vision Pro with Apple’s vice president of software development Alan Dye and vice president of hardware design Richard Howarth.

Mr. Howarth stated that Apple designed the Vision Pro with “a lot of flexible features and soft features” such as the Solo Knit Band so that people “not only feel comfortable wearing it, but also enjoy wearing it around others.” The Vision Pro was launched in the US on Friday, and Apple has announced that the headset will be available in other countries later this year. In other related news, the next-generation Apple CarPlay is expected to introduce new apps. Apple has confirmed that the first US car models with next-generation CarPlay support will debut in 2024. The first beta of iOS 17.4 lists eight new CarPlay apps, including Emergency Settings for managing pairs of iPhones and changing car settings, Car Camera for displaying the rear camera of the car, and Charging for electric vehicles. Additionally, Apple has announced that more than 600 apps with native visionOS support will be available on Vision Pro when the headset launches in the US on Friday, with Max (formerly HBO Max) and other popular apps optimized for the device. Furthermore, iOS 18 is anticipated to be a significant software update for iPhone. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iOS 18 has the potential to be one of the “biggest” changes to iOS in the company’s history, ushering in substantial updates. Additionally, reports suggest that Apple is considering launching its first foldable device as a 7- to 8-inch alternative to the 8.3-inch iPad mini. This is the latest news from Korea’s The Elec. It is reported that Apple is reviewing the launch date of the device between 2026 and 2027. Apple has also released the visionOS 1.0.2 update ahead of the Vision Pro launch, indicating that Vision Pro owners will need to install updates. CNET’s Scott Stein has shared a video showcasing the changes with the update installed. Moreover, Apple has confirmed the implementation of CarPlay for the next generation in 2024 with new features. While the exact timing of availability in other countries is yet to be specified, Apple has indicated that the first models with these new CarPlay features will arrive in 2024.
