A tense video captures the moment Israeli troops confront a Hamas terrorist as he hurls a grenade at them before being apprehended.
The footage, released from southern Gaza on Monday, depicts Israel Defense Forces soldiers engaging with Hamas’ Khan Younis Brigade outside the residence of its leader.
During the gunfire exchange, a grenade suddenly detonates near the Israeli soldiers, who then spot a Hamas operative just a few feet away from them, running and seemingly prepared to throw another grenade at them.
Nevertheless, the IDF soldiers swiftly manage to eliminate the gunman, whose body collapses on a dirt mound behind which the troops had sought cover.
An examination of the body revealed that the terrorist was in possession of a knife and additional grenades, as per Israel.
The IDF confirmed that none of the soldiers involved in the close encounter with the militant sustained injuries.
The attack on the Khan Younis Brigade comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lauded the IDF’s progress in Gaza on Monday, announcing that 75% of Hamas’ units in the area have already been incapacitated, as reported by the Times of Israel.

“We are on the path to total victory,” Netanyahu expressed during an event with the IDF’s 8104 Battalion. “We are committed to it, and we will not give it up.
“We will not end the war without achieving this goal of total victory, which will restore security to both the south and the north,” he added.
The prime minister estimated at a recent war cabinet meeting that 18 of Hamas’ 24 units have been disabled since the commencement of the war, with officials indicating that approximately 10,000 terrorists have been terminated thus far.
The death toll in Gaza surpassed 27,000 over the weekend, according to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health, which does not differentiate between civilians and terrorists.

The accuracy of Israel’s tally of Hamas casualties remains unverified. Two weeks ago, US intelligence officials informed the Wall Street Journal that only 20% to 30% of the group in Gaza had been eliminated.
Netanyahu highlighted that as the IDF progresses in its efforts to eradicate Hamas, Israeli troops are also working to dismantle the terrorists’ 300-mile tunnel network, which facilitates their concealment and launch of counterattacks.
“This necessitates more time,” Netanyahu informed his ministers regarding the imperative to secure Gaza.
