King Charles III was taken to a private London hospital on Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, to undergo a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate, according to Buckingham Place.
The 75-year-old king is set to receive treatment at the London Clinic, where the Princess of Wales is currently recuperating following abdominal surgery. The king made a visit to the hospital to see Kate after his arrival.
“The King was this morning admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment,’’ the palace stated. “His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week.”
Charles, who ascended to the throne 16 months ago, received the diagnosis of the benign condition on Jan. 17 after seeking a check-up due to experiencing symptoms. He cleared his schedule and was advised to rest in preparation for the procedure.
The attention on the king’s surgery is being viewed as an opportunity to promote the importance of other men getting their prostates checked in line with public health recommendations.
The palace mentioned that the king was “pleased to hear that his diagnosis is contributing to raising awareness about public health.”
