On Sunday, Russia announced that it had destroyed three military speedboats carrying Ukrainian soldiers in the Black Sea. According to Moscow, the boats were heading towards annexed Crimea.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated on Telegram that “naval aviation of the Black Sea Fleet destroyed three military Willard Sea Force speedboats,” which were made in the United States and were transporting Ukrainian troops.
The statement mentioned that the boats were moving in the direction of the Crimean peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.
In a separate statement, the Russian army reported shooting down eight Ukrainian drones over Crimea and one near the Ukrainian border in the Bryansk region.
In a different incident on August 24, Ukraine claimed to have carried out an operation in Crimea, where it raised its national flag.
According to Ukrainian military intelligence, Ukrainian special forces landed on the western part of the peninsula from the sea and left without any casualties.
