New details hint at a potential Pixel Tablet 2 in the works

Two new codenames discovered in the latest beta release of Android hint at the potential development of the Pixel Tablet 2. The original Pixel Tablet was known by two different internal codenames – “Tangor” and later “Tangorpro.” The latter was released last year as the Pixel Tablet. Additionally, the “Citron” markings were also seen on the tablet, although the exact purpose of this marking was not confirmed. Furthermore, two versions of the Pixel Tablet port were being developed – “Korlan” and “Yuzu.” While only one version of the port was eventually released, it appears that Google might introduce a charging port for the Pixel Tablet in the future. The codenames assigned to the Pixel Tablet have so far revolved around fruit, particularly those from the citrus family.
Today, Google unveiled the first beta of Android 14 QPR3 for its Pixel phones, and early explorations by our team unveiled new features visible on the surface and within the code. Embedded within the code, a list of current and upcoming Pixel devices was found. Among the familiar codenames for the Pixel phone, two codes that have not been seen before were unveiled – “Clementine” and “Kiyomi.” These names seem to continue the citrus theme. In horticulture, tangor commonly refers to a hybrid fruit resulting from the combination of a sweet orange with another citrus fruit. A well-known example of a tangor is the clementine which is widely cultivated. On the other hand, the kiyomi is a tangor hybrid originating from Japan. The exact nature of the devices represented by these codenames in Android 14 QPR3 is not yet clear. Nevertheless, the citrus theme suggests that these could be related to the upcoming Pixel Tablet 2. It is worth noting that these interpretations are speculative, as the available evidence is not conclusive. What features would you like to see on a potential Pixel Tablet 2?
