According to leaked court documents, Microsoft may be working on a new version of the Xbox Series X called Brooklin, which will be discless. The new Xbox will have a unique cylindrical shape and will be equipped with updated features such as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. It will also have 2TB of storage, which is double the amount available in the current Xbox Series X. Additionally, Brooklin is designed to consume 15% less power than the current Xbox Series X and will have a low-power standalone system that uses 20% less power than the current version.
The leaked document is part of the ongoing legal battle between Microsoft and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over the company’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The document containing “non-public information” was briefly available on the court’s public website before being removed. It was then shared on online forums and reported by The Verge.
Along with details about the discless Xbox Series X, the leak also revealed information about a new controller called Sebille. The Sebille controller will feature Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, a new mobile app interface, accurate haptic feedback, a built-in accelerometer, and a rechargeable and replaceable battery.
According to the leaked documents, Microsoft plans to release the new Xbox Series X, the Sebille controller, and a refresh of the Xbox Series S in 2024. However, Microsoft has not yet confirmed these plans.
Xbox CEO Phil Spencer addressed the leaked documents and emails in a tweet, expressing frustration and excitement about the future of Xbox. He stated that Microsoft will share specific plans when they are ready.
