The Roundabout Theater Company has announced that a revival of “Doubt: A Parable” will hit Broadway this season, starring Tony winners Tyne Daly and Liev Schreiber in leading roles. The play, written by John Patrick Shanley, tells the story of a nun who suspects that a Catholic school student has been sexually abused by a priest. “Doubt” previously won the Pulitzer Prize for drama and the Tony Award for best play. The revival is directed by Scott Ellis, the current interim artistic director of the Roundabout. Daly and Schreiber will play the roles of the nun and the priest, respectively.

Daly, most recently known for her work on “Cagney & Lacey,” won a Tony Award in 1990 for her performance in a revival of “Gypsy.” Schreiber, of Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” won a Tony Award in 2005 for his role in “Glengarry Glen Ross.” The production will start on Broadway in February 2022 at the American Airlines Theater.

The Roundabout has also announced two other productions set to hit Broadway this season: a revival of Samm-Art Williams’ 1979 play “Home,” directed by Kenny Leon, and a new play by Theresa Rebeck, “I Need That,” starring Danny DeVito and his daughter, Lucy.

It is worth noting that Shanley will have another new play, “Brooklyn Laundry,” staged Off Broadway next winter by the Manhattan Theater Club, the nonprofit that originally presented “Doubt.”
