Three months after French police conducted a raid on the Paris Olympic Organizing Committee’s offices, the country’s top financial prosecutor has stated that the investigations into the preparations for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics have not revealed any significant corruption. According to the prosecutor, the probe is primarily a formal one.

During an interview with the French radio network RTL, Jean Francois-Bohnert said, “I don’t see any elements, at least not at this stage, that would lead the investigation towards the most serious cases of corruption or influence peddling.”

The investigation is focused on determining whether there has been any favoritism or illegal interest in the awarding of contracts by Paris 2024.

Paris 2024 organizers have been the subject of two investigations – one initiated in 2017 and another this year. While little information has been disclosed publicly about these investigations, authorities have hinted that they may involve possible misappropriation of public funds. Both probes are believed to be ongoing. Additionally, the offices of Solideo, the public entity responsible for constructing Olympic venues in and around Paris, were also raided by the police.

Paris 2024 CEO Etienne Thobois, during a meeting with a small group of reporters, stated, “We are probably the most scrutinized entity in France and maybe even the world right now. This is normal and part of the Games. There is an ongoing inquiry and investigations. We are fully cooperating with the authorities. We have implemented very strict procedures and have complete trust in our team. We are confident that the outcome will be favorable. We view this as a challenge that needs to be effectively managed.”
