The RTX 4080 SUPER PCB now has fewer power units compared to the original RTX 4080NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Founders Edition PCB has less power phases than RTX 4080 – VideoCardz.comThe RTX 4080 SUPER update has garnered attention from many reviewers. Notably, the interior design is strikingly similar to the original SKU. Despite featuring a new model system, a new GPU, and faster memory, significant changes have been made to the board’s design for the 4080 SUPER. NVIDIA has reduced the number of parts from 13 to 11 and memory parts from 3 to 2. Additionally, one part is missing from the power connector. While not a substantial change, it is worth noting, especially considering the increase in cores and faster memory for the SUPER GPU. It is also noteworthy that the ASUS ROG STRIX model, tested by Geekerwan, has the same power as the original.RTX 4080 SUPER PCB design, Source: Geekerwan Geekerwan suggests that this alteration in PCB design has enabled NVIDIA to lower power consumption during gaming. Despite having a TDP of 320W, the card only requires 246W during gaming, which is less than the RTX 4080’s 251W as reported by NVIDIA on the official website:Specifications of RTX 4080, Source: NVIDIAAs noted by the same reviewer, there is also a minor change in the codename of the GPU, as the RTX 4080 SUPER is labeled PRESS SAMPLE. Generally, testers receive original silicon from the initial batch of manufacturers, which are often labeled “QUAL SAMPLE” or have no labels. This is the first instance of NVIDIA utilizing this new logo, presumably exclusively for the Founders Edition. There are no indications that this was the case for the RTX 4070 SUPER, whereas the 4070 Ti SUPER and all previous releases (4060Ti/4060/4070Ti) did not feature the Founders Edition design; hence, such a designation did not exist.RTX 4080 AD103-400 PRESS SAMPL GPU, Source: GeekerwanWhile not a significant change, it is interesting to note that some reviewers noticed it. RTX 4080 SUPER cards are largely based on the RTX 4080 non-SUPER, and given that both cards have the same TDP requirements, partners did not see the need to alter the design of the 4080 PCBs. However, for reasons unknown, NVIDIA chose to do so for their Launch Edition. For more details, be sure to check out Geekerwan’s review.Source: Geekerwan via @9550pro
