New York City finally saw some relief from 11 consecutive days of overcast skies, and the National Weather Service anticipates that clear, sunny weather will persist into the upcoming week. The city had been under persistently cloudy conditions with minimal rainfall since Monday, Jan. 22, as reported by NWS meteorologist John Murray. Clouds consistently obscured the sun over Central Park, JFK and LaGuardia airports throughout the past week. The dreary weather gave way to clear, sunny skies on Saturday, which is expected to continue through at least Wednesday, according to Murray. He also noted that the above-average temperatures seen in the city recently will persist into the following week. Temperatures are forecasted to range from the low-to-mid 40s at the end of January and the beginning of February, with many highs in the low 40s in the coming days. According to Fox Weather, New York City had more overcast days since Jan. 23 than Seattle, with an average of 97.8% daylight cloud cover compared to Seattle’s 93.3%. Additionally, Buffalo experienced overcast or partly cloudy conditions each day in January.
