OnePlus has released the February ColorOS update in China, introducing a range of AI tools. This move aligns with the trend of major tech companies like Google and Samsung enhancing their top-end phones with intelligent features. The ColorOS update is intended for both the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12 Series. Notably, the update incorporates smart enhancements for the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 11 from the past year. This comes as Samsung and Google showcase new AI-powered features on their latest flagship devices, such as the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 8. The appearance of the February ColorOS update in China was first identified by a Reddit user and reported by Mishaal Rahman on X. Initially perceived as a minor update for the OnePlus 11, it was subsequently revealed through a post on the OnePlus community forums in China that the update is also available for the OnePlus 12. Importantly, the February ColorOS update brings a number of AI-powered features. When the OnePlus 12 was initially introduced, AI wasn’t emphasized in smartphone innovation, which was different from the approach taken by Google and Samsung with features like Circle to Search. The update also allows OnePlus devices to make calls like other Android phones. The new AI Call Summarizer feature processes your call and provides a summary, useful for retrieving information such as directions, addresses, names, or phone numbers. AI Call Summarizer is capable of extracting “deletion times, locations, actions and other important” details from conversations. Another addition is the Magic Eraser feature, currently known as AIGC Remover, which can eliminate unwanted individuals or objects from photos using AI, similar to features found on other phones. This new feature assists users in digesting online content and news briefs. Breeno Touch has also been enhanced to scan the screen, identify content, and make recommendations based on what’s being viewed. Build PHB110_14.0.0.403(CN01) will be received by OnePlus 11 devices, while OnePlus 12 phones will receive build PJD110_14.0.0.405(CN01). These updates are currently rolling out to the appropriate devices. It’s unclear when they will be available for international versions.
High-end features at a more affordable price The OnePlus 12 offers impressive features at a mid-range price, and with the ongoing rollout of the ColorOS update, it is set to receive further AI-based software enhancements.
