CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Zena Cardman, a former University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill student and now a NASA astronaut, is about to experience her first spaceflight as part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-9 Mission. The launch is scheduled for no earlier than August, and Cardman will be one of four crew members embarking on a six-month mission to the International Space Station (ISS). During Expeditions 71 and 72, they will conduct important research and contribute to ongoing operations at the orbiting laboratory. Cardman’s upcoming spaceflight will mark her inaugural journey into space, highlighting her achievements as a NASA astronaut. Her role as a leader in the mission underscores her accomplishments in the field since joining NASA.
